Sugar Maple

SUGAR MAPLE, also known as ROCK MAPLE, is the hardest and strongest maple wood. It polishes well and is widely used for baseball bats as well as furniture, cabinets, violins and other musical instruments, and bowling alleys. Often times it has an unusual grain pattern that makes it particularly beautiful and valuable. MAPLE BATS give batters the extra edge for top performance. Every maple bat should be made from hand-selected top grain hardwoods for the finest quality baseball bats . The Pro Select grades are made from billets which have a straight and flat grain pattern and are the hardest wood bats in Major Leagues.

Birch

THE NEW BIRCH BAT is tougher than ash, more flexible than maple. This hard hitting imported wood does not flake like ash and out performs maple. This lighter wood allows athletes to swing larger barreled bats through the hitting zone.

Birch is a tree that is commonly found in Quebec, Canada. This is a tree that due to its’ regenerating qualities it is not an over exploited resource. Birch is the largest in the Birch species found in eastern Canada and can obtain a diameter of 60 centimeters at full growth.

In comparison with maple, yellow birch has a lower density which allows for a ration of -3 (length verses weight, ex. 33 inches/30 ounces) no matter what the model. Due to the flexible fibres it is as resistant as maple if not more and the same time it allows for an advantage in terms of strength.
